The Dream is a short documentary in which a married Dutch couple, affected by HIV, talk about their experiences of wanting, having and loving their children. Piet and Mirjam share their fears and their dreams for the future, offering an insight into the complexity and power of human relationships under pressure. This remarkable couple show how love and dreams can play such a vital role in human strength and the desire for new beginnings.

Women' Suffer a Host of Health Issues, Tuesday, 31 October 2006, by Wezi Tjaronda, featured in New Era
WINDHOEK
- A recent draft health assessment of women's health in three regions where the HIV prevalence rate is high has identified six diseases, including HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and cancers as, priority health issues affecting women.

In New York today, and within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS (UNGASS), first ladies, women working in the public sector and taking decisions on behalf on governments in the areas of health and in different international organisms, and Patricia Pérez (Regional secretary of ICW Latina) as the only representative from civil society organizations in Latinamerica, will meet to discuss the creation of a NETWORK OF FIRST LADIES AND WOMEN LEADERS FROM LATINAMERICA ON WOMEN AND AIDS. ICW responds to criticism from US Senator Tom Coburn

You may have heard that on May 19, US Senator Tom Coburn wrote to President George W. Bush, in a letter which makes a series of inaccurate statements about ICW.

Violence against women is a worldwide scourge

It ensuring that women living with HIV have a voice and meaning participation in relevant decision and policy-making bodies on issues important to our lives and it values the transformative power of women living self-determined lives. Such action is essential to attainment of all of our human rights.

Mary Robinson becomes ICW's first patron

ICW is honoured to announce that Mary Robinson has agreed to be our first patron. Mary Robinson is a lawyer by profession, moving on to become the first woman President of Ireland between 1990 and 1997. She then served as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997 to 2002. Her current commitments include being on the Steering Committee of the Global Coalition on Women and AIDS and starting Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative. ICW International Strategic Plan Review

The International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS hosted a week long residential workshop for all its UK based and International staff and trustees last month from 26th - 30th April. Twenty-five people attended for all or part of the week including 13 out of the 15 members of the international board of trustees. It was an opportune occasion to welcome on board ICW's newest staff member, Gcebile Ndlovu, from Swaziland, who recently accepted the post of Southern Africa Regional Coordinator.
