POSITIVE WOMEN TALK TO SCIENTISTS ABOUT MICROBICIDES

The International Working Group on HIV-Positive Women & Microbicides was convened in mid-2006 as a response to HIV-positive women’s groups seeking an opportunity to engage issues related to microbicide development. The working group (consisting of HIV-positive women from many countries, including 12 ICW members, and leading microbicides researchers and scientists) participated in a series of conference calls, each focusing on a different topic identified by the HIV-positive women. Questions were asked and answered about theinvolvement of HIV positive women in research trials and the safety and efficacy of a microbicide for HIV positive women, including interactions with ARVs and pregnancy.
