ICW is looking for new UK-based Trustees to join our Board

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 14th
As a part of ICW’s on-going commitment to good governance, we are now starting an active search for new members to join the UK Board of Trustees.

The UK Board is responsible for governing the legal, financial and personnel requirements of the ICW International Support Office, which is located in Islington, North London. Governance of ICW as an international network is the responsibility of the Global Strategic Assembly (on which the UK Board is represented).

The UK Board takes ultimate responsibility for the work of the International Support office, and the way in which it spends money given by donors to achieve its aims. This is a big responsibility, focusing on the strategic direction of the work, agreeing plans and budgets, and holding the International Network Manager to account for the delivery of plans. Trustees are also legally responsible for ensuring that the International Support Ofice operates in accordance with UK law and standards set by the Charity Commission.

The International Support Office currently manages a budget of around £500,000 per annum. It houses the International Network Manager and 7 other staff members, and manages 11 staff members based in a further 8 countries.

The UK Board is made up of 8Trustees, of which a minimum of 6 (75%) must be HIV positive women.

We encourage HIV positive women from all communities in the UK to apply for board membership. We are particularly keen to reflect ICW’s value statement (see www.icw.org) which emphasises that ICW stands for the rights of all HIV positive women, irrespective of age, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation. We will provide child care costs to cover attendance at board training sessions and meetings, as needed. We welcome applications from anywhere in the UK. However, as we need to keep costs manageable, geographical spread of Board members will be a factor in the decision-making process.
